Merry Chilean Christmas

Dec 23, 2013

Dear Family,

MERRY CHILEAN CHRISTMAS!!! We are burning up in the middle of summer and I finally understand why here in south America they talk about ice cream and Christmas always in the same breath...because seriously, it´s getting toasty here.

This week was just...plain old, crazy. I give thanks to my crazy Monroe roots for the ability to sleep in a different home and travel every day and be just fine. Because seriously, here is a little run down of this week:

We realized on Monday, during p day, that because the zone conference had been changed we had to leave that night to travel four hours south to do exchanges with the sisters there, and so we left, sprinting, from our house to make it to the terminal on time. And we didn’t make it on time. So we had to take this little tiny buses and bus hop to get to Osorno and then to Entre Lagos, had our exchanges on Tuesday, and then left at seven in the morning to come back and work in our area, and then leave at seven in the evening to travel 3.5 hours to the north, got there just in time to go to bed, had exchanges the next day (Thursday) and left on Friday in the morning, after an emotional melt down of one of the sisters and a companionship inventory,  to go a little bit south and have exchanges in Villarica with the sisters there--(LOVED that day, Villarica is a summer DREAM nestled in between a volcano and a lake and mountains and I got to be with my very loved Hermana Mahterian..) and we arrived back in our area on Saturday, visited a couple of investigators, than went to our activity that we had planned for the ward (our elders are saints, with half absent sisters..) were I got Volun--told to sing for sacrament meeting the next day..
and THEN on Sunday, we got up, got ready, and I received a call from the bishop and had to give a talk and then sing..

It was kind of fun. and crazy.

But still the mission goes on, and it´s awesome. With hermana Espinosa, also, I am progresing SO much as a missionary--learning how to teach doctrine, how to be bold in proclaiming the gospel as IT is..so much.
My favorite moment personally of this week, though, was just a golden moment in the midst of craziness, when one of our investigators, who is not very well off, insisted that we have once with her. She has literally NOTHING, and insisted that we partook of what she had. The goodnes of this people never fails to stop me, and show my soul what it means to remember Christ.

I love you all!! See you on Wednesday!!! at five my time!

Love, Hermana Monroe
